Community and Media Relations

“Precinct 5 has always had a strong relationship with the community we serve, but it can always be better.”
…………………………………………………………………..Constable Ted Heap

The Community and Media Relations Division was formally established in February of 2015 under the direction of then Chief Ted Heap.  It consolidated many community outreach and policing functions that already existed throughout the Department, as well as implemented numerous new programs and initiatives.

The Division strives to build and maintain relationships between the department and the community we serve through these programs and initiatives.  From the popular Citizens Police Academy and RAD class, to programs aimed at businesses, schools, and day cares, the division offers education and awareness programs to all demographics.

The Community Relations Division routinely holds classes of all types at the various civic centers located around Precinct 5, as well as attending home owner meetings and special events upon request.  There is never any cost associated with our programs or guest speaking engagements. To learn more contact the Community Relations Division.
